11. Love Caught Her

Words and Music by Judi Jaeger © 2011

Rose finished packing her boxes, a shiny red clip in her hair.
Slipping that ring from her finger, she left that gold circle there.
Closing the door behind her, she shook off the shadow of pain.
Staring into empty tomorrows, was better than feeling the shame.

Her days rolled away like thunder, she counted each one as it closed.
Then she counted her dreams like the dollars she’d need to get where
she wanted to go.
Up the hill to her one room walk-up, she wished for some tenderness.
Believing that she deserved better, she jumped into life’s abyss.

That’s when love caught her
She was falling like water.
Love caught her, protected and taught her.
Love caught her and gently set her down.

When she met him it was raining. She had come to the edge of her life. And, he gave her his umbrella and she tumbled into his blue eyes.
Now, she’s unpacking those boxes, finally feeling at ease.
‘Cause she broke that circle forever, when she had the courage to leave.

That’s when love caught her
She was falling like water.
Love caught her, protected and taught her.
Love caught her and gently set her down.

Now, she’s doubled her treasure.
Wrapped in the arms of a man, who holds the tiniest fingers of their newborn baby girl’s hand.
And, once again...

That’s when love caught her
She was falling like water.
Love caught her, protected and taught her.
Love caught her and gently set her down.
Love caught her and turned her life around.
