6. Monterey

Words and music by Judi Jaeger © 2014

Yellow, orange, crimson and pink.
The day cools down and begins to sink
Over young girls dancing in the sand holding hands.

Autumn heat has pulled out to sea.
The night drops in and easily
tosses out to those who stay a star bouquet.

In Monterey
In Monterey
Monterey

The seagulls cry their crazy tunes.
Chasing arcs above the dunes
and calling the day to come a shore on the ocean’s roar.

In Monterey
In Monterey
Monterey

Highway 1 brings me to this place.
Where all my worries are erased.
By the cold pacific waves.
The cold pacific waves, of

Monterey
Of Monterey
Monterey
Monterey

Song Notes | Judi: Just outside Monterey, CA, there is a beach, easy to access off Highway 1. After a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, I stopped so the girls could play in the waves. While sitting on the warm sand, watching my daughter and her friend jump in the waves of the chilly Pacific Ocean, I was inspired to write this song.
